Intel’s 14th Gen Desktop CPUs Missing From Bestsellers Everywhere: Worst Launch Since Rocket Lake?

Intel’s 14th Gen Raptor Lake-S Refresh is off to a poor start. These “next-generation” desktop processors are next-generation only in name. Most SKUs are rebrands of older 13th Gen parts with mildly higher boost clocks. As such, performance remains more or less the same, with gains of only 1-2% across different titles. The sales of the 14th Gen desktop family reflect just how disappointed gamers and enthusiasts are with the launch.

None of the 14th Gen Raptor Lake-S Refresh CPUs are among the top 10 bestsellers at any major retailer. At Mindfactory (Germany), none of Intel’s new chips sold more than 110 units last week. The Core i7-14700K was the most popular SKU at #12, followed by the 14900K at #18. The Ryzen 7 7800X3D continued to lead the chart with 900 units sold the last week [via TechEpiphany].

Newegg US is almost a replica of Mindfactory’s bestsellers chart. The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is the lead bestseller, followed by the Core i7-12700K and the 13700K at #2 and #3, respectively. The Core i9-13900K is the fourth bestselling SKU, while none of the 14th Gen chips figure among the top ten.

The Ryzen 7 7800X3D is the top-seller at Amazon and has been for perhaps more than a month now. The Ryzen 5 5600X and 5800X come in at #2 and #3, respectively. The Core i7-13700K holds the fourth spot, followed by the 5800X3D. The Core i9-14900K ranks #11 with a price tag of $615.

B&H is slightly different. The Ryzen 7 7600X is the #1 bestseller, followed by the Core i9-13900K and the Ryzen 9 7800X3D. The Core i9-13900KS ranks fourth, the Core i7-13700K fifth, and the Ryzen 7 7700X sixth. Once again, none of the 14th Gen desktop CPUs figure among the top ten.
